New Minister Overseeing BC Post-Secondary Education
The BCITFSA looks forward to working with the Honourable Selina Robinson, BC’s new Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. Robinson takes on the role following a cabinet shuffle on Wednesday, December 7, which saw the Coquitlam-Maillardville MLA take on the new portfolio following a successful stint as Minister of Finance.
Robinson will face a number of challenges in the new position. A post-secondary funding formula review is under way, led by former BCIT President Don Wright, in which determining a successful funding model for the sector will be key to our long-term health. The FSA’s submission to Wright is here. Post-secondary institutions are also dealing with questions of autonomy and lingering issues left by the pandemic.
Robinson replaces Anne Kang, MLA for Burnaby-Deer Lake, who served as Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training prior to Wednesday’s shuffle.
