Standing Together for Working People: BC Federation of Labour Lobby Days 2025
November 6, 2025
Last week, I joined my colleagues on the Executive Council of the BC Federation of Labour for our annual government lobby in Victoria. Together, we met with the majority of the NDP caucus to discuss how unions and government can continue working in partnership for the people of British Columbia.
Our discussions centred on four key themes: Affordability, Building BC, Equity, and Health & Safety. Each represents a vital pillar of the labour movement’s work—and the foundation of a stronger, fairer province.
I also had the opportunity to meet with our cousins across the post-secondary sector, where these same priorities resonate deeply. Making education more affordable and accessible, investing in campus infrastructure and skilled trades training, addressing persistent equity gaps, and ensuring safe, respectful workplaces for all faculty and staff are essential steps the province can take to strengthen BC’s public education system and its broader social and economic fabric.
These meetings reaffirmed our shared commitments. Unions are not just advocates for members—they’re partners in building a province that values learning, fairness, and opportunity for everyone.
