New Brand. New Website. Your FSA.

New Brand. New Website. Your FSA.

Teresa-Place-fsaThe FSA is so pleased to launch our new brand and a redesigned website. We have worked to create a user friendly, adaptable site that will become a key resource for all our members. We hope that you will take time to explore the site and provide us with feedback through our contact form. We are continuing to celebrate this occasion by holding an Open House on May 21st from 9-11am. This event serves as an opportunity for members to see the office renovation, more of our rebrand, the winners of our first art contest, and to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and something to eat before heading to your offices.

It has been a busy year for all of us; in 2013-14 we said goodbye to a valued BCIT President, Don Wright, and hired our new President, Kathy Kinloch. Thus far Kathy has been a very engaged and active BCIT President. She values the work our members do and understands the need for engagement. We also signed a new Collective Agreement that ends in June 2014; just in time to head back into bargaining. Last September we formed our Collective Agreement Committee and began preparing for the next round of bargaining that will start this month. The FSA also hired our first Member Engagement Officer, Kyla Epstein. Engaging with our membership has been and will continue to be a key priority. We can’t advance your rights without you. We also saw the need to connect more with our PTS members and we now web stream our general meetings and have formed an FSA PTS task force. In the fall we held ‘Meet & Greet’ sessions in the evening here on the Burnaby campus as well as the Downtown campus.

Heading into 2014-15 we will be back at the bargaining table defending your collective interests. We will continue to find ways to engage with our members, to celebrate their strengths and successes and to look for ways to educate members about our Collective Agreement and how you can help us advance your rights by participating in planned activities with key stakeholders in the province. We will continue to reach out to members and will look for ways to come to you; consider inviting me to a departmental meeting, which is a great way to hear what is happening in your program and to stay in touch. Enjoy exploring our new website!
