Labour Day Events in BC
The SFU Historian Mark Leier documents a very interesting political history to Labour Day. The course of the holiday, it seems, follows the broader trajectory of the labour movement, both in the US and Canada—our ups, downs, militancy, or calm. One takeaway from this is, I think, that Labour Day (much like a union) is what we, as workers, make it.
The BCFED has a list of Labour Day events across the province. If you’re a fellow Coaster, perhaps I’ll see you at the Sunshine Coast Labour Day Picnic.
