New Collective Agreement Now In Effect

New Collective Agreement Now In Effect

BCIT has advised us that the tentative bargaining agreement has now been ratified by both the Board of Governors and by the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association.  The new agreement came into effect as of Friday, October 16.

All FSA members except student employees will see their pay adjusted to the new rates on the October 30th payroll.  Rates for student employees will be adjusted for the November 6th payroll.

Retroactivity will be applied back to July 1, 2015.  BCIT has undertaken to process the retroactive payments as quickly as possible.  Unfortunately some staffing shortages might delay the retroactive payments until the end of the calendar year.

The FSA and the employer are currently proofreading a draft of the new collective agreement.  In the meantime, members should refer to the settlement agreement along with the past collective agreement for the current provisions.  As always, please contact the FSA if you are uncertain about your rights or if you experience any problems with the roll out of these new rates of pay.
